About Leticia KALUMBILO

Leticia is a dedicated scientific researcher pursuing a PhD in Bioscience Engineering. Before her PhD journey, she completed her postgraduate degree of MSc. in Health and Biomedical Sciences. Before that, Leticia received her undergraduate degree of BSc. In Science (Biology). Leticia advanced her education by pursuing her research in neurodegenerative diseases. Her master's research primarily investigated brain atrophy, aiming to uncover the underlying mechanisms and potential risk factors for brain atrophy and other forms of dementia among the elderly population in Northern Tanzania. Currently, as a PhD candidate in Bioscience Engineering, Leticia focuses on Species Distribution Modelling (SDM) research which aims to understand how the loss of species diversity promotes animal diversity and disease spillover in Northern Tanzania. As an opportunistic learner, Leticia has been an alumnus of global scientific schools such as the Simons Computational Neuroscience. With her lifelong passion for science, she remains excited about the future of Bioscience and its potential to transform health outcomes through innovation and research.
